.. The Role of LCA in Decision Making? (ETH Master Project; Laufzeit Okt-Dez 2022)

How and to which extent are LCA results used in decision making of companies and organisations? Are LCA formally embedded in decision making processes? These questions are analysed by Luc Subal, Environmental Engineering Master student at ETH-BAUG. People with contact to both LCA and decision making are invited to participate, by filling in this questionnaire to the project. (Contact: Arthur Braunschweig)

.. "Emissions financed": Wie sollen Investoren und Banken die CO2e-Emisionen ausweisen, die sie mit ihrer Finanzierungstätigkeit mit-verursachen? Hierzu hat PCAF einen Standard erarbeitet, der gegenwärtig in mehreren Regionen der Welt von Finanzdienstleistern ausgetestet wird. E2 wirkt in der Projektleitung des deutschsprachigen Testprojekts ("Region D-A-CH") mit. (Ansprechperson: Oliver Schmid-Schönbein)

Kürzlich abgeschlossen ist die Aktualisierung der "Ökobilanz-Gewichtung" gemäss der Methode der ökologischen Knappheit (MöK). Diese wird in der Schweiz oft für ökologische Vergleiche verwendet. Die Methode wurde 2020/21 im Auftrag des BAFU aktualisiert, unter Mitwirkung von E2. (Ansprechperson: Arthur Braunschweig)

The partners of E2 regularly mentor student works, mainly on M.A. level. The following topics are of interest to E2 and mentoring by a partner of E2 may be possible, of course depending on the regulations of the respective university.

.. What makes organisations turn towards sustainability?

Which factors bring an organisation to intensify its sustainability orientation? Can be done with case studies, literature review, interviews and/or questionnaires; ideally with a mix. (Contact: Arthur Braunschweig)

.. Are there relevant cases of LCA application?

LCA (Environmental Life Cycle Assessment) has been in use for > 30 years. Which studies have had a 'real and pertinent' impact? The question arises because often studies focus on marginal improvements, which in addition often get overcompensated by market success - a typical rebound effect. But we also can name a few LCA studies which seem to have lead to a real environmental improvement. But by far not enough. This topic can be tackled from various viewpoints.
